An interesting study by Cargo, an marketing agency specializing in helping brands connect with Small Business Owners (SBOs), indicates that SMBs in U.S. are optimistic about business in 2014. According to agency’s study titled, “B-Side Marketing Project,” the percentage of U.S. SMBs expecting their business to grow over the next year has risen over 11% since last year and those projecting substantial growth alone has risen more than 9%. And key brands that market to SMBs are doing a reasonably good job of marketing to SMBs with 67% of SMBs saying that they are effective today. If sellers to SMBs can improve their ability to connect with their SMBs by demonstrating they have real insights into their challenges, they too should see their business improve in 2014.
Other key topics in the study include:
For instance, while 51% of the SMBs say they “can’t live without their smartphone” we know from BuzzBoard/vSplash data that most SMBs don’t offer their consumers web experiences that are optimized for the variety of mobile devices in consumers hands today.
There’s a host of data that I will share from the study over the next couple weeks.
