Restaurant Sector Ramps Up Mobile

Interesting findings from a study released by Hospitality Technology via their Customer Engagement survey. According to the findings, restaurants are ramping up their adoption of “mobile first” approach. According to the study, in 2013 53% of restaurants had a mobile website. By 2015, this number is expected to reach 85% — that’s a 30% annual increase. Further, the survey indicates in 2013, 29% of restaurants had a mobile app and this is expected to increase to 70% by 2015. So here’s the question — which of these forecasts is more believable — 85% of restaurants will have a mobile website or 70% of restaurants will have a mobile app?

At BuzzBoard we find that restaurants are one of the most engaged categories and we see considerable activity among our users running audits and analyzes of restaurant operators. So the findings in the Hospitality Technology survey are not surprise to us.
