I found this piece of data suggesting that Canadian SMBs could be missing out on considerable business. According to the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, three-quarters of Canadians research purchases online, but only 41.1% of small businesses have a website. Further, the Authority found that two out of every three dollars Canadians spent online go south of the border. This suggests that Canadian SMBs without robust digital presence might be losing out to national brands and businesses south of the border. There is no shortage of media sellers talking with SMBs – Transcontinental, Yellow Media, CanWest to name a few. One would think that by 2014, the number of SMBs with web presence would be at or exceed the 50% threshold.
